THE icengineworks^TM EXHAUST HEADER FABRICATION TOOLS

After your design is complete, and the roadmap and metal shopping list has been created (filling out a U-Bend Metal Control Sheet - included in each set of icengineworks^TM modeling block sets, or downloadable below as a PDF file) the next step is the cutting of the tubing.
These newly redesigned tools have been engineered to greatly simplify the cutting of pre-bent J- and U-shaped (preferred) metal tubing. They quickly yield precise and square cuts (perpendicular to the tangent) eliminating the need to further finish the cut in a grinding wheel.

The aluminum icengineworks^TM universal pivoting table PIV1000 (designed to work with 10"- or larger throat vertical band saws equipped with a rip fence - shown here is a 14" Wilton Model No. 8201) is specially designed to slide over the band saw's workbench into the blade while carrying an icengineworks^TM  Tube-Cutting Spacer that accurately centers and hold the U- or J-bend during the cut. This simple method quickly gets clean cuts that are always perpendicular to the centerline at any angle (from 0 to 180 degrees). This means that when using good quality U- or J-bends, those cuts will be of circular profile instead of ovals allowing easier butt-to-butt welds and also creating smooth joints that match the precision of the modeling blocks. Once locked in, the whole assembly slides along the rip fence bringing the metal tubing center into the blade's path for a straight cut.
